Master of the Oceans

Dependability, seaworthiness and luxury at sea are Cheoy Lee hallmarks. The Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer represents the pinnacle of all three.

Designed and built to handle the demands of bluewater adventures around the globe, the 130 Explorer is a rugged, steel-hulled expedition yacht fully capable of transoceanic range and self-sufficient voyaging. At the same time, this masterful megayacht’s sleek, contemporary styling updates and refreshes the traditional concept of the utilitarian “explorer yacht”.

Equally suited to cruising the coastal U.S. and striking out for exotic destinations like Tahiti and Patagonia, the 130 Explorer delivers the same level of luxury as other high-quality yachts in its size range. It offers accommodations for ten guests in five spacious suites, including a full-beam on-deck owner’s suite. There is even a beach club tucked inside the transom. There is no need to compromise between your needs and dreams with the Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer.

The Cheoy Lee 130 Explorer is the result of a collaboration between Cheoy Lee Shipyards,  American naval architecture firm Overing Yacht Designs and yacht interior designer Sylvia Bolton Design.

Jon Overing designed a round bilge fast displacement hull for the 130 Explorer that combines offshore seaworthiness with fuel efficiency. Powered by twin CAT C18 EU STAGE IIIA developing 2,100 hp each, this expedition yacht reaches a top speed of 13 knots and offers a remarkable range of over 4,200 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Sylvia Bolton created a timeless, classic interior for the 130 Explorer that incorporates rich woodwork, soft textures and eye-catching accents. Large windows throughout keep guests mindful of the ocean’s many splendors surrounding the yacht. In addition to pampering the owner with every amenity, the 130 Explorer’s luxury interior also allows you to explore the opportunity to offer the yacht for charter.

Drawing on its 150-year shipbuilding heritage, the family-owned Cheoy Lee Shipyards constructs its Explorer Series yachts with a finely tuned balance of traditional craftsmanship, cutting-edge technology and strict attention to detail. Its use of commercial-level systems and equipment for its yachts minimizes the risk of breakdowns in out-of-the-way ports of call.

This new contemporary design was created to expand the cruising areas in a round bilge full displacement explorer going beyond the status quo. The Cheoy Lee 130 offers an operating draft in the 7’-7.5’ range and fuel capacity of over 10,000 gallons allowing extensive cruising range and endurance. With all the amenities one would expect in a five-stateroom motoryacht plus a spacious platform level beach club, the 130 strikes a nice balance for cruising areas like the Bahamas while offering a global range with superior seakeeping abilities.

Deck Plan

*

Inside the 130 Explorer’s sleek exterior are four decks of luxury accommodations combined with highly practical, functional workspaces.

High above the waves, the covered flybridge with its bar and dining area is the ideal space for outdoor lounging and entertaining. One deck below, the bridge-deck skylounge offers another private gathering spot for cocktails, games and movie nights. Aft is dedicated storage for the tender and water toys, plus there’s a Jacuzzi on the foredeck. The pilothouse is designed for serious seafaring, but there is an inviting settee for guests who like to watch the captain at work.

The main deck not only holds an elegant salon, formal dining area, and galley, but it also features a luxurious full-beam owner’s suite. The his-and-hers heads forward also are large for a yacht of this size. Belowdecks are spacious suites for eight guests, along with generous, well-equipped quarters for up to six crew. The machinery spaces and tank deck with storage are all designed for commercial durability.
